The 20th anniversary of Tiananmen massacre on June 4th is approaching, so it seems the Chinese government is adding more to the blocked list. My favorite new site, Twitter, has been blocked, as well as hotmail, the new search engine bing (microsoft), flickr, wordpress, and probably more we cannot find now. That adds to the list of blogger, youtube.
I noticed it a few hours ago trying to access twitter…and it was working here maybe 7 hours ago, as I was using it in the office earlier.
Luckily I have a way around the great firewall, but I have to pay extra money for it, as well as its a tedious workaround. I’m trying to upload images on my wordpress blog, but keep getting errors, will try later with my workaround, but too tired to do it now. unbelievable….but yahoo and google still work, so what is this preventing? maybe those are next. Guess the internet needs to be controlled by the government here, and we need to seek approval for any information posted. hope this blog isn’t next….

hey dude, just caught up on a few of your favorite posts. im sorry they are blocking so much stuff over there. its hard to believe. but this is why we value freedom of speech, dissent and protest over here, and the govt kida doest try to hide mistakes made in the past. gonna try to get back on twitter but it just seems like it takes so much time. have to find another way. tty soon

hey Piotr.
Yea is really sucks, but in it all, it forced me to switch my blog from blogger to wordpress, which I had been meaning to do for a while.
Sucks the reason for the push, and yes, its sad that a country so large, with so many people eager to learn and interact with the outside world are held down by its own government.
Hope I don’t get blocked for th is!
it’s a clash of the Titans — China versus Twitter and Microsoft
think Twitter doesn’t have a chance in China….Microsoft, maybe. but going to take a lot of government relations
Thanks Mike,
I wish everyone would write this
Microsoft Bing would be the closet competitor of Google. but i still use Google because it shows more relevant results on the serp.
i have been evaluating the search results of Microsoft Bing compared to Google and they are comparable. Bing gives almost the same relevant search results just like Google.
