The biggest thing since NAFTA

The U.S. and South Korea reached a landmark deal to slash tariffs and other trade barriers in the biggest such pact since the North American Free Trade Agreement, which took force in 1994. The deal could boost trade between the two countries by $20 billion from its current level of $75 billion a year. (Forbes.com) Negotiations ended just in time for a 90-day comment period before President Bush loses fast-track trade authority on July 1. Leading Democrats said they would try to block the deal’s ratification because it would cost U.S. jobs. (Financial Times) Bush said the agreement would boost U.S. exports, and help “consumers save money.” (AP in Yahoo! Finance)
