What Mike Michelini is up to now – May 2 – 9, 2021

It is a MAY HOLIDAY here in China. We’re taking a few hour road trip this Sunday morning to go to the in-law’s “original village” – a first time for me to visit. Hope my internet works. That’s on the top of my mind.

I will be working as always because I love what I do. Although it seems I am overworked, underpaid (for now!), I believe massive things are coming so soon and it will all be worth it.

  • Events!! We have so much to do, so much to promote: Flamingo Handshake (HNS auctions – next Wednesday, May 12 – USA time); CBM – Cross border Matchmaker -Friday, May 21; and GFA kids in June. Trying to catch up the team and community in all of this and hope all these can grow without my needing to “push it”. I’m working on goals and targets to do that.
  • Loving web3 – can’t stop learning about NFT, DAO and web3 protocols. While many of you are still saying “crypto is evil or bad for environment” I am 90% sure you will be playing catch-up once it goes more mainstream in the next 5 – 10 years. I’m not saying to invest all of your money, but would recommend you to educate yourself. You can do a lot without money, just understanding it and getting involved.
  • DAO – the next thing for me to dive deep “Down the rabbit hole” and get my head around. I have so many businesses and projects. If we can put them into DAOs (blockchain companies / orgs) then I think it can really help make things more clear (for myself and those in those organizations) on who does what and how the benefits are split.

Again, I gotta continue to adjust to being a coach, a delegator, a motivator, an empowerer. And, I should work on organization charts and structures that incentivize and align all parties for long-term value creation.

That sounds obvious. But now I know that is indeed what I need to focus on.

As always, there’s tons going on! Hope everyone enjoyed last week’s monthly team call. I really enjoy those lately! The goal is to try to get to know each other more and make sure we are all on the same page. Working online while all on flexible time is a challenge and we need to spend extra time communicating to make up for that.

Big focus has been on getting the marketing and client services / community department re-started and re-organized.

Cross Border Matchmaker is in just a few weeks from now. Time is flying! We have to really work on promoting this more.

GFA Kids is getting great feedback and collecting lots of surveys. People want their kids to join. People want to volunteer. People want to be teachers. It seems we have really something here.

Broken Border. People seem to love the name (I love it too, obviously). All of us are dealing with this tragic COVID time. But, I’d say the cross border has been hit the hardest. So look forward to this NFT collection – CBM theme – but more importantly, saving this in time as something to look back on “when things go back to normal”.

Flamingo Handshake – that is in a week and a half! Gotta get that rolling, but we did get some great submissions late last week which is what we really needed.

How to put all of this together?

We’re also trying to engage and get our GFA community involved with these projects not just as an attendee / learner / speaker but as an organizer. So on Tuesday night, 7pm, I am inviting them to what is called a “committee” call where we discuss these projects openly and have them involved in making t.

Shadstone “pool”, still brainstorming this. But Jan and I chatted about a monthly pool of a bonus that the team can “win” if KPI/goals are made. Project goals such as CBM attendees, NFT / handshake sales, new GFAVIP members, then a bonus pool is released end of the month.

DAO is the keyword for these (I know, another Crypto term) basically it is an organization on the blockchain. So I want to experiment with making some of our teams and projects into DAO for transparency as well as “gamify”.

The goal is alignment and transparency – on the member level as we, as us, as an internal team level. Create win-win and openness.

Hmm, normally I write more but I think reading the above is already a huge amount of work! I do hope everyone is clear on the goal and what we are building and the DREAM is we continue to build LEADERS here.

I know crypto has some bad reputation – and for fair reasons – but I do believe it will help our cross border and online team and community to do business together, and have a transparent and clear way of life.

LEADERS – keep building up your confidence and let’s make amazing things together. The sky truly is the limit.
