Yes…i’m alive..had a few emails from friends checking on me…worried I may be in some dark damp chinese jail cell…nope…still here…
About an hour ago I received a call from my doormen buddies downstairs…can’t speak english so when they call I just say “yea yea” and the person can come up to see me. This time it was a Chinese food (well ….food delivery…as its all Chinese here) and this is normal…except…I didn’t order any….it was 18 RMB (less than $3 USD) so one thinks to themselves…is it worth it…I opened it up….saw a whole fish, and just paid the guy….
Children Growing Up in China – today’s generation
My apartment owner’s son comes by sometimes, and he speaks a little English, he’s about 12 years old, so went to the park with him Sunday w/ some others (long story…but ended up in a Mambo dancing class, wine tasting, then home cooked meal) …but one of the girls there about my age makes me realize how lonely the new generation is in China….only 1 child per family so you miss out on the siblings, the friends of your brothers and sisters coming over. Also, the cities are mostly high rises, not suburbs or houses…so the kids don’t have the playing in backyards or streets…they really stay at home with their family…
This will have to have some kind of effect as time progresses….what…I’m not exactly sure…but after Sunday I started realizing that….but then again…cities in USA are similar….there are parks….hmmm….
