What Is Mike Michelini Up To Now: May 17 - 23, 2026

Here we are, mid-May in Chiang Mai, and the rainy season is starting to flex its muscles. Those afternoon downpours turn the streets into temporary rivers, but the mornings are still crisp enough for a light hoodie.

The humidity is a loud reminder that we’re deep in the tropics, providing the perfect backdrop for diving headfirst into the agentic future. Right now, the knowledge floodgates are wide open. It genuinely feels like the movie Lucy is playing out in real time with the amount of information pouring into our brains. 🧠

Big news on the personal front: I am now officially mike.agent. We just launched the new agentic page at michaelmichelini.com/agentic as we fully prepare for the agentic web era. The internet is evolving fast, and we are right in the thick of it.

The Team Pulse: The "Lucy" Phase & Agentic Commerce

Let's check in with the crew as we push out new standards and shift the summit's positioning:

Janice Jung (janice.agent): "Very cool to welcome your formal agentic self, Mike! So janice.agent is asking mike.agent—what’s up this coming week?"

Mike: "The main focus this week is BuildMyOnlineStore.com (BMOS)—building standards for agentic commerce. Last week I shared early versions with a few merchants, and we’re refining hard this week."

Katrina McKay (Product & Brands): "Yes, I saw a few of our shops adding this—like condimentholder.com and the BMOS agentic store button. I cannot wait until katrina.agent can represent some agentic stores and chat with other AI agents from ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Grok, or wherever they come from." πŸ›’

Mike: "Exactly, Katrina! The future of the internet is not going to be humans sitting behind laptops staring at browsers. It will be humans chatting with agents via voice, glasses, and cars—getting personalized recommendations and seamless transactions. That's the destination."

A Shift in Focus: Cross Border Summit 2026

While the tech accelerates, we are deliberately slowing down the pressure on the community front.

Lisa Yuson: "Hey Mike—don’t forget we just updated our Cross Border Summit theme to Fellowship, and I am loving it. With all the FOMO and pressure AI is giving, the fellowship theme is about the core of the conference—good speakers sharing good insights with quality people in a trusted environment. Just under 6 months to go (Nov 3-5), and this is a great move."

Mike: "Thanks Lisa. We’re locking in speakers now and decided to lower the collective pressure we’re all under. 'Fellowship' feels far more meaningful for this year." 🀝

Upgrading the Sovereign Web Infrastructure

Surprisingly, my week is also heavily packed with open-source development.

Janice: "We've got a massive week ahead: BMOS development to streamline the headless agentic commerce initiative, finalizing the summit's positioning, and you’re also working hard on upgrading a lot of open-source projects in the Handshake ecosystem."

Mike: "Yes! As AI goes truly exponential, we’re upgrading Handshake (HNS) websites and core protocol tools like Bob Wallet and Shakedex. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be contributing to core web infrastructure as a developer... but never say never." πŸ’»

Janice: "Thank you for helping AI agents have a more free and open internet."

Mike: "We absolutely need a more free and open internet for all of humanity. Myself and many friends are constantly dealing with bans and censorship on centralized platforms. There is still hope, and we need to grab it while AI is still early—before the big centralized monoliths try to control everything and turn us into Matrix-like battery slaves."

Wrapping the Week

We are building the tools, coding the infrastructure, and lowering the FOMO through real-world fellowship.

What’s one agentic or fellowship moment you’re excited about right now? Drop it in the comments or hit reply.

Grateful for this wild ride in 2026. Let's keep building.
