We are kicking off 2026 with full momentum here in Chiang Mai. The cool season vibes are still hanging on, and the energy around town is electric—new ideas, new upgrades, and new ways to level up our game.
It’s one of those weeks where the learning curve feels steep in the best way possible, and every day brings another layer of progress across the board.
🧠 Site Upgrades & "Brain" Tinkering
This week was massive for personal upgrades in knowledge and skills. While navigating the usual queues at Thailand Immigration, I spent that waiting time pushing live a new interactive "brain" section on the homepage of mikesblogdesign.com.
The goal is to turn the site into more than just content—it’s becoming a living, breathing hub of ideas and experiments. It’s amazing what a little "immigration office deep thinking" can produce!
🎙️ Enter the Omi: My New AI Companion
The big addition to my toolkit this week is the Omi.me device. It’s a wearable AI companion that records and processes everything. I’ve been using it to:
-
Capture Meetings: No more frantic note-taking during calls.
-
Reflect & Process: Recording solo "talking to myself" sessions to find clarity.
-
Transcript Generation: Re-visiting conversations verbatim to ensure nothing gets lost.
🤝 Community Wins: Record-Breaking Meetups
Lisa Yuson shared some fantastic news from the front lines: we used the Omi device to record the full transcript of the GFA Chiang Mai Ecomm Meetup last Tuesday.
"Attendance absolutely broke records this time—thanks to some smart new advertising channels pulling in more people than ever. Huge energy in the room!" — Lisa Yuson
We are already locked in for the next meetup on Tuesday, Feb 10.
📅 The 2026 Global From Asia Roadmap
We’ve officially upgraded the globalfromasia.com/events page to showcase what’s coming next. If you’re planning your year, mark these down:
-
Samui Cross Border Mastermind: March 24–27, 2026 (Koh Samui)
-
8th Annual Cross Border Summit: Nov 3–5, 2026 (Chiang Mai)
Katrina McKay is also seeing momentum on the ecommerce side. Her personal site, KatrinaMcKay.com, just received a fresh upgrade. We are now applying new AI frameworks across hundreds of sites to turn plain content into interactive experiences.
🌐 The Decentralized Future
Finally, Billy Beard dropped a reminder about the importance of the decentralized internet. HandyCon 2026 is coming up March 4–6. If you’re interested in true ownership and an open web, check out 2026.handycon.xyz. As I told Billy, decentralization and online freedom matter more than ever in 2026.
Summary: Let’s Keep Charging
From immigration waiting rooms to record-breaking meetups and new wearable AI, 2026 is already delivering. I’m grateful for the crew making it all happen.
