Family Vacation in Krabi for Songkran (While the Kids Are Still Young!)

Family Vacation in Krabi for Songkran (While the Kids Are Still Young!)

Michael Michelini | | Vlog

Life moves so fast. Between the constant AI agent overload, the endless screen time, and the 7am-to-11pm work sprints, it is easy to forget to slow down.

We were stuck in Chiang Mai during the burning season, our pet bird had just flown away (removing the last logistical hurdle for family travel), and the kids had a rare couple of weeks off for Songkran. So, I hit the eject button. Within a few days, we booked flights, packed our bags, and headed to Krabi—a place we had never visited before.

Krabi is now easily one of my favorite destinations in Thailand. It is a place where dramatic mountains plunge straight into emerald oceans. But honestly? This trip wasn't just about the scenery. It was about realizing that life is short and the kids (now 10 and 12) are growing up fast. Soon enough, they’ll be moving out, and all we’ll have left are these memories.

This vlog is a bit longer than usual because we packed in so much adventure. Hit play to see the full experience, or skim the highlights below!

🎬 Vlog Highlights & Timestamps:

  • [01:15] Jurassic Kayaking: Paddling through a surreal, crystal-clear river straight out of Jurassic World.

  • [03:40] Ao Nang Waves: A quick, fun 1-hour kayak trip riding the waves and exploring the beautiful beach networks.

  • [05:20] The Speedboat to Phi Phi: Ditching the slow ferry for a high-speed boat ride. Luggage piled up front, zooming across the Andaman Sea.

  • [08:10] Miles Goes to "Space": Miles tries scuba diving! In just 30 minutes, he became an "underwater astronaut," spotting tons of Nemos in the tropical reefs.

  • [11:05] Songkran Chaos: April 13, 2026. Total joyful chaos. Getting soaked in Thai New Year water fights and catching the lively parade in the main town of Phi Phi.

  • [14:30] The 6-Hour Longtail Adventure: Our private boat tour exploring Maya Bay (we saw a baby shark!), snorkeling at Shark Point, discovering empty beaches, and surviving the chaos of Monkey Beach.

The Real Highlight

Of course, beyond the big adventures, the best parts were the in-between moments: walking and talking on the beach, sharing meals, and laughing over funny stories. That’s really what this trip was all about. Time flies, and my heart skips a beat when I think about them growing up.

If you’re planning a family vacation in Thailand, Krabi is an incredible destination. Life is short. Make the most of it.

Sending you all the best—I hope you’re also living life to the fullest! 🌴🌊
