Newsletter: The future of work should still feel human
This is the web edition of Mike's Blog newsletter for September 20-26, 2026. Subscribe here to receive future issues.
I read the comments about the AI avatars in some of our recent videos. Fair. We have been experimenting, but if a format creates distance instead of connection, we should listen and adjust.
This week's update is going back to something more human: my voice, real photos and footage, and the actual people and work behind the story. AI can help us organize and produce, but it should not become a wall between us.
Bangkok with Miles
Miles and I are heading to Bangkok for a business event and game-card launch. It is a chance to bond and a practical test of his new hybrid online and offline school model. Can he keep up with school, learn on the road, and experience real business alongside me? We are also preparing for a much more intense Hong Kong and South China trade-show trip from October 17-26.
Keeping judgment human
Back with the team, I have been investing a lot of energy in our Centaur model. AI takes a first pass, while a human owner reviews, corrects, and signs off. A recent Cross Border Summit working session gave us a good example: agent monitoring helped surface what needed attention, while human judgment and ownership stayed clear.
Cross Border Summit is now a bit over a month away. This eighth annual edition is themed Fellowship. The systems help us prepare, but the real point is still people sharing openly and building trust in the room.
I also had a training workshop with the CosmoLocal crew. Their main week is coming up, and you can use code michelini30 for 30 percent off at cosmolocalcnx.com.
On HeadlessDomains, we are preparing to migrate .c and other names from a registrar that is reorganizing. More details will come when they are ready for public announcement. The long-term mission remains the same: support Handshake and a more decentralized root zone.

What should stay unmistakably human as AI becomes part of more work?
