Our Journey Expanding Excalibur Brothers Into Men's Skincare

The main business purpose of my recent Bangkok trip was to explore the next evolution of Excalibur Brothers: expanding into men's skincare and personal care.

Bringing my son Miles into that experience was a major part of the trip for me. I wanted him to see what business and travel look like in the real world. But the product mission itself was serious. We met potential manufacturing partners, compared different approaches, reviewed early samples and packaging ideas, and learned how many questions must be answered before a skincare product is ready for customers.

We took part of the Bangkok father-son vlog and made a short video focused specifically on the Excalibur Brothers moisturizer journey.

Another Evolution of Excalibur Brothers

Excalibur Brothers has been around for more than two decades. My friend Lawrence started the brand in 2003 selling replica swords and other unusual collectibles. Over the years, it evolved into what we often call the gifts-for-men category: flasks, wine accessories, and other products people can give for Father's Day, holidays, weddings, and special occasions.

The brand has persisted through many changes in ecommerce. Now we are considering another evolution.

We want Excalibur Brothers to grow, and I also want to build more of our business around Thailand's manufacturing and supply-chain strengths. After years of thinking about the brand—and especially several months of focused research—we see an opportunity in men's health and personal care, beginning with a daily face moisturizer.

This is not a finished-product announcement. We have not publicly selected a final supplier or formula. We are still comparing evidence, improving the product brief, and deciding what must be true before we move forward.

Why Men's Skincare, and Why Now?

Many men I know spend most of the day in front of screens. We are building companies, working remotely, experimenting with AI, and, in my case, doing a lot of vibe coding. Technology is changing how we work very quickly.

I think the next phase of this AI-driven world will also make people more conscious of the human side: our energy, health, confidence, habits, and longevity. Once the tools become normal, the real question is how we use the time and leverage they give us to improve our lives.

Skincare is one small but practical part of that. The direction we are exploring is simple: a fragrance-free daily moisturizer that feels comfortable, fits naturally into a man's routine, and earns repeat use. Women may also like and use it, but we are designing the experience around men who may be new to skincare and do not want a complicated shelf full of products.

We are researching ingredients and product characteristics such as hydration, skin feel, fast absorption, and a simple morning-or-evening routine. Those are development directions, not finished claims. The exact formula, testing, packaging, compliance, and evidence all still have to be validated.

Building Proof Into the Product

I do not want this to be a generic product with a logo and a lot of marketing language.

Our plan is to give every Excalibur Brothers skincare product a QR-linked Product Proof Passport. It should help a customer understand what the product is, what is in it, where it was made, what testing supports it, which claims are still pending, and what changed between versions or batches.

The idea is simple: proof, not gimmicks. If something has not been tested or verified, we should say that clearly.

AI is useful here because it helps a small team organize a complicated amount of supplier, ingredient, testing, packaging, and compliance information. But AI does not replace laboratories, qualified manufacturers, safety testing, regulatory review, or human judgment. It should help us ask better questions and keep better records.

A Companion Experience, Not Just a Jar

We have also built an early product-companion prototype. The goal is to explore whether photos, simple check-ins, and routine reminders can help someone establish a baseline and follow their consistency and experience over time.

This is still in development. It is not a medical diagnostic tool, and I do not want to build a complicated app simply to say we are a tech company. The technology should earn its place by helping customers use the product correctly, understand their own routine, give structured feedback, and get support when they need it.

Help Us Shape What Comes Next

We are in early product development and private testing. Before any wider testing, the exact formula and batch, instructions, exclusions, safety evidence, and reaction-reporting process must be cleared. I do not want to rush that step.

But I do want to involve the community now.

What is your biggest frustration or question about men's skincare? Is it knowing which product to use, remembering to use it, avoiding fragrance, understanding ingredients, trusting the claims, or simply not wanting a complicated routine?

Please watch the focused Excalibur Brothers moisturizer video and leave a comment. If you want to learn more, follow the development process, and join the launch list, visit excaliburbrothers.com/skincare. We would especially like to hear from men who are new to skincare, people already following a simple routine, ecommerce operators, product developers, and anyone with experience building transparent consumer-health products.

Excalibur Brothers has evolved before. I am excited to share this next chapter while it is still being built—and to let the people who may eventually use the product help us make it better.
