shenzhen generator conferenceApril is an exciting months for the tech scene in Shenzhen! We have 2 awesome events that only come so often, so I’m writing up a special post to make sure everyone is aware 🙂

I’ve been reducing the amount of networking events I attend over the years as I focus on 1 thing, and my startup Social Agent – but these 2 events are something I’m definitely not going to miss! I’ll be attending both so hope to catch up with some people there

Haxlr8r’s Generator Conference, Saturday April 5th

I was fortunate enough to attend last year’s first Haxlr8r Generator conference 1.0 and now they will host the 2nd annual conference at Shenzhen University. Its jam packed with hardware experts speaking about how hardware is eating the world! Below is the info, hope to catch you there!

YES! GENERATOR is back with a second edition which will be better, bigger and… bigger.

Hardware is the new software, great. But how can you build a hardware startup fast and cheap?

GENERATOR is a half-day event to learn about the new trend of “Lean Hardware” from startups who have done it successfully.

Speakers from various startups, hardware hackers and the startup accelerator HAXLR8R will share their lessons to help makers succeed.

Startup Weekend Shenzhen #7 at Tencent’s Headquarters

As most probably know, I’m one of the organizers of Shenzhen’s Startup Weekend since it started, and I’m especially excited for this upcoming one. It will be shenzhen

Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 400 past events in 100 countries around the world in 2011.
The non-profit organization is headquartered in Seattle, Washington but Startup Weekend organizers and facilitators can be found in over 200 cities around the world. From Mongolia to South Africa to London to Brazil, people around the globe are coming together for weekend long workshops to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies. All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.Whether entrepreneurs found companies, find a cofounder, meet someone new, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups. If you want to put yourself in the shoes of an entrepreneur, register now for the best weekend of your life!

Shenzhen Maker Faire

Another massive event is the Shenzhen Maker Faire, this is at least the 3rd, but I’m thinking more likely 4th. Very international with makers from around the globe! Like a science fair!

Maker Faire is a place for old and young, professional and hobbyists who are interested in “making” every kind of things. May it be art, technology, interaction, sculptures, robots and much much more.
Exhibitors can show their creativity, demonstrate their products or services and exchange ideas with like-minded, get in touch with potential customers or even investors.
Vistors can enjoy the program at and around the Maker Faire, participate in workshops and events for young and old, learn soldering, making clay art or even welding. There will be a lot of interesting people to meet, a lot of interesting products and all kind of arts to see, hear and even taste. So just visit us and give yourself the chance to be inspired and astonished by the beauty and power of creativity.

Especially with the majority of events in chinese… Or mixed of chinese and english it also gets overly complex
