A Chinese Milestone: Miles Reaches 100 Days

Happy 100 daysBeen so appreciative to be a father and a husband. Living the mixed life of a Westerner and a “Local Chinese”, but feel a bit more local Chinese lately. As with everything I have noticed in my life, it is best to embrace than resist.

My son Miles now has passed 3 months (born on May 25th) and that first month, as some of you may have read, was a living nightmare for me and the rest of the family with him in the ICU. But it makes us just so much more appreciative to have reached this landmark.

What does 100 day old baby mean in China? It has become a cultural thing where I don’t think most people realize what it means, but from what I can gather, I think in “olden times” it represented that if you child survived more than 100 days it was most likely he/she would no longer risk dying of any newborn disease or problems.

So we have made it!

Took some cheese-y family photos and have one to share with you guys in today’s post.

Really I am a bit confused on the direction of this blog – I am getting a lot of traction in my business podcast – Global From Asia .com and I plan to blog more about Asia business there.

Here I will continue to update those interested on landmarks in my family and personal life that doesn’t fit into the Global From Asia business theme.

Let’s all appreciate life, every day above ground is a good one.
